Major League Rules with Some Modifications


- Cut-off date for each age group: May 1, 2008.

- Lead offs are allowed for all ages.

- Designated Hitter is allowed for any player.

- Extra Hitter(s) - may be used; however he must always bat in the tenth spot.

- Extra Hitter(s) for all ages may enter the field for a starter one time, but if you take them back out, they may not re-enter the field again but will continue to bat the remainder of the game.

- Re-Entry Rule will be used for 12U & 13U only (a starter may re-enter one time during a game, provided he bats in the same position). An EH is not considered a starter that may re-enter his defensive position once taken out. 14U/15U no re-entry allowed!

- Speed Up Rule: run for catcher & pitcher at any time (must use a player not already in the game)

- No pitching limitations (coach's discretion).

- Balk rules:

12U warnings only during pool play, then only 1 warning per pitcher during tournament

13U - one warning per pitcher during pool play, then straight baseball during tournament

14U/15U - straight baseball the whole time (no warnings)

- All games will be six (6) innings in length or 2-hour time limit. No new inning will be started 5 minutes before 2-hour time limit is up.

- The "Mercy Rule" will be used (if one team leads another by 10 runs or more after only 4 innings of play, the game is over). This also applies during the tournament!

- CBW Tournament Directors have the option of officially calling a game after 4 innings if the weather is inclement and they do feel the game can be continued. If the game is stopped for weather and is resumed, it will resume in the exact position that it was left in, no matter what the circumstances (e.g. bottom 2nd, 1 out, man on 2nd).

- Pool Play tiebreakers, will be determined by the following criteria in this specific order: Head-to Head competition, Least Runs Allowed, Quality Wins

- All protests must be made at the game, to the umpire and the official scorekeeper, before the next pitch is thrown. A tournament director must be called to the field to handle the situation before the games is resumed.

- Slide Rule - a player must slide or attempt to slide on all close plays (umpire's discretion).

- Head-first sliding is permitted into each base.

- Metal spikes are only permitted for the 13U - age divisions.

- No jewelry may be worn during games (e.g., earrings, necklaces, rings, etc.).

- It is required that every player wear a double earflap protective helmet while batting, on deck, in coaches' boxes, and running bases.

- The use of all tobacco products by athletes and game personnel (coaches, umpires, etc.) is prohibited. There is also no smoking on or near the fields or outside of the dormitories!

- Only the following authorized people shall be allowed on the playing field: players, coaches in uniform, trainers, umpires, team managers, and camp administrators.

- No alcohol is allowed on campus property - SUNY Oneonta is a dry campus!

- 12U Base paths: 70 ft. Pitching Mound: 50 ft.

- 13U Base paths: 80 ft. Pitching Mound: 56 ft.

- 14U- Base paths: 90 ft. Pitching Mound: 60 ft. 6 in.

- Bat Diameter for all maximum 2 ¾

- Bat Length: 12U-13U no restrictions

- Bat Length: 14U- maximum 36 inches

- Bat Weight: 12U-13U no restrictions

- Bat Weight 14U- differential no greater than minus five (-5)

Camp Rules

One (1) violation of camp rules (game misconduct/ejection, property damage, fighting, drugs, alcohol, tobacco, curfew, trespassing, sign in/sign out, etc.) constitutes a minimum two (2) game suspension per player or coach with a maximum of ejection of the entire team.

Three (3) violations for a team - the team will be removed from the camp.

The Camp Administrator will make final determination of penalty.

If a player wants to leave campus, he must be accompanied by a coach, counselor, or parents. This is NY State law!
