Einhorn was the founder and chairman of TVS Television Network, the leading syndicator of sports programming in the 1970s. The TVS telecast of the Houston-UCLA game from the Astrodome in 1968 is given credit for the growth in popularity of college basketball on television. TVS celebrates its 40-year anniversary in 2005, and Einhorn is writing a book on the evolution of “March Madness” by tracing his early days of television basketball in the 1960s to the present through interviews with over 50 of the people responsible for this growth, including John Wooden, Elvin Hayes, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Digger Phelps and Dick Enberg. Einhorn’s book was released in January 2006.
Einhorn has received many awards and honors over the years, most notably being honored recently by his hometown of Paterson, N.J. with the Mayor’s Award for civic contribution. He currently serves on the board of the Kidney and Urology Foundation, a project close to his heart.
